The Blow Molding Process
To manufacture jars and containers, a facility will use a two-part process. The first step in the reheat stretch blow molding process involves creating tubes of melted plastic. When it has reached the right temperature, the machine will stretch the preform, thus giving the process its name. The machine will infuse air into the preform to create the final shape. While the preform is still in this area, the molds will close. A rod will use two levels of air pressure to stretch this part. It remains in the area until it cools off.
